Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright, Screenwriter, Author, Teacher.

Recipient of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play ‘night, Mother.

Recipient of the 1991 Tony Award for the musical The Secret Garden.

Recipient of the 2016 Tony Award for the revival of the musical The Color Purple.

Recently inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Marsha Norman is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Blackburn Prize, Hull-Warriner Award, Drama Desk Award, and two Tony Awards. Ms. Norman is co-chair of Playwriting at Julliard and serves on the Steering Committee of the Dramatists Guild. She has numerous film and TV credits, as well as a Peabody for her work in TV. She has won numerous awards, including the Inge Lifetime Achievement in Playwriting; in 2016, she was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. Marsha is also President of the Lilly Awards Foundation, a non-profit honoring women in theatre and working for gender parity nationwide.  (click here for full bio)
